Historical Dam

The dam was constructed in 1941 by the cowboys of the P-Bar Ranch to serve as a water supply for the cattle and the ranch. The ranch supplied beef to the military during World War I and II. Other remnants of early ranching in the Garden can be seen in barbed wire remnants and parts of a concrete housing pad for the workers.

Currently the dam is in poor shape due to erosion and wear over the years. Efforts are being made to restore it as much as possible, but it will never match its original strength.

PLEASE STAY OFF THE DAM – IT IS DANGEROUS DUE TO ITS DETERIORATION.
