Echinocerius engelmannii
A clumpy columnar cactus. 4”-12” tall, 2’-4’ wide.
Light green stems. Spines up to 2”.
Usually blooms in the spring.
Flowers close at night and reopen in the morning.
Fruit is 1” long, edible, ‘strawberry’ taste.
Fruits attract birds, rodents, and javelinas.
